How To Choose Blinds For Your Home

Choosing Blinds For Your House

Since the 1940s, blinds have seen a continued growth, from the development of new types to changing trends and much more. During the 40s, aluminium blinds started to become mass produced and these were probably some of the first venetian blinds on the market and for a number of years, they didn’t change much. Window coverings and blinds in some form have been around for centuries but it was only during the 40s, that they became mass produced.

Then during the 60s, fashion and trends became much more popular and the vertical blinds also started to become more popular. Since then, the rise in blinds for windows has continued to grow and now people have a wide range of options to choose from when it comes to blinds. From different materials to colours and even light and blackout options, there truly is something for everyone now in terms of blinds and window coverings. Keep reading below to find out more about choosing the right blind style for your home.

Choosing The Right Style of Blinds

Choosing the right style of blinds can be one of the most difficult options to make. Do you choose roller blinds, venetian blinds, a combination of both? Or something else all together? One of the great things about blinds is they will go with almost any type of decor and with such a great array of options to choose from, it can be easy to find a choice to suit most rooms. Budget will also come into the type of blinds you choose, with vertical blinds being one of the most cost effective and shutters being one of the most expensive.

Whilst it can be tempting to go for something very different, it’s always best to keep it neutral and many people opt for white or off-white blinds, especially when it comes to verticals. Whereas with venetians, people will opt for neutral colours or wood finishes and one of the great things about doing this, is it will go with most decor styles. Roller blinds are the opposite however, roller blinds are usually chosen to match the decor and they can be installed in the recess of windows or on the outside.

How To Choose Blinds For Your Home

Bright and Natural

If you’re wanting to keep your room bright and light, then it’s best to go for a style that uses more sheer fabrics such as these that offer a much softer look and naturally let more light into the room, whilst still providing privacy. If you do opt for a lighter material blind, then you might then choose something like curtains or roller blinds to compliment them; ensuring light is still blocked out fully when you need it to be.

Bold and Dark

If you’re looking for the ultimate privacy or you want something that perfectly matches your decor, then bold and dark blinds might be the best option. Opting for darker colours, blackout blinds or deep wood shades will provide a much more effective block against light and it will also give you the maximum amount of privacy as well. Even if you opt for this style, it will probably be best to avoid patterns or prints and still try to keep those simple crisp lines. So say no to florals, but you could always opt for a fine stripe.
